The Basic Life Support (BLS) course is designed for healthcare professionals and first responders who need to recognize and respond to life-threatening emergencies using advanced CPR and AED techniques. This class emphasizes high-quality, team-based response and reinforces the critical skills needed to provide effective resuscitation and improve patient outcomes in both prehospital and in-facility settings.
Course Objectives
Participants will learn to:
Perform high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants.
Use an automated external defibrillator (AED) safely and effectively.
Provide ventilations using barrier devices, including bag-valve-mask (BVM) resuscitators.
Work as part of a team during multi-rescuer scenarios.
Assess breathing and pulse, identify cardiac arrest, and deliver appropriate care until advanced help arrives.
Respond to choking emergencies for all age groups.
Requirements for Completion
To successfully complete the course, participants must:
Complete all required online learning modules before attending the in-person session.
Actively participate in all class activities and skill sessions.
Demonstrate competency in all required BLS skills during hands-on practice and final testing.
Pass the final written exam with a score of at least 80%.
Certification Details
Upon successful completion, participants will receive an American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, valid for two years. The certification is recognized nationwide and meets professional credentialing and employment requirements for healthcare providers and emergency response personnel.
Blended Learning Format
This course follows a blended learning model, combining self-paced online instruction with in-person skills practice and evaluation. The online portion allows you to learn and review core content at your convenience, while the in-person session focuses on hands-on application and scenario-based training to build confidence and proficiency.
