Babysitter Training with Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid

The American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training course equips youth with the knowledge and skills needed to care for children and infants safely and responsibly. Designed for participants ages 11 and older, this class helps build confidence in handling real-world babysitting situations while emphasizing leadership, safety, and emergency preparedness.
Course Objectives
Participants will learn to:
Provide quality care for infants and children, including feeding, diapering, and playtime routines.
Recognize and respond to common emergencies such as injuries, choking, or sudden illness.
Perform basic first aid and CPR techniques for children and infants.
Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to understand expectations.
Develop leadership, professionalism, and problem-solving skills for babysitting success.
Create a babysitting business plan, including how to market services and set fair rates.
Requirements for Completion
To complete the course successfully, participants must:
Attend all portions of the class and actively participate in group discussions and activities.
Demonstrate understanding of key safety and caregiving concepts.
Complete all skills practice sessions and scenario-based learning activities.
Certification Details
Upon successful completion, participants will receive an American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training certification, valid for two years. The certification demonstrates that the student has completed a nationally recognized program in youth childcare safety and preparedness.
Blended Learning Format
This course is offered in a blended learning format, combining interactive online instruction with in-person, hands-on practice. The online modules introduce key concepts and prepare students for the in-person skills session, where they’ll apply what they’ve learned through role-playing and team exercises.
Next Steps After Registration
After registering, your instructor will email you to confirm class details and provide your enrollment link for the American Red Cross Learning Center. You’ll use this link to access the online learning portion, which must be completed before attending the in-person session. The instructor’s email will also include information about the class schedule, location, and what to bring on the day of training.
